The world is nuts

One of my favorite quotes is "The world is nuts and it can't be helped", by Arlo Guthrie. I saw it on his on his web site a few years back. He's tongue-in-cheek most of the time; doesn't take life too seriously although he's at risk (or might have by now) his famous father's wasting disease. This quote came to mind because I just called the "sick leave integration department" of HR for Kaiser; I have some questions about my sick leave and state disability pay. I got this recorded message:
"We cannot accept your call at this time because we have an emergency situation and have to evacuate the building. Please try again later."
Oh my. What now? a fire? an armed disgruntled employee or spouse or patient? an earthquake? an overflowing toilet after some big dump and housekeeping cannot respond for 2 hours because all the union employees are on break?
The world IS nuts! We could all help it not be nuts, but most of us won't or can't help out. We just let it get nuttier and nuttier. Heaven looks nearer and dearer all the time.

Hip Hip Hooray.....Hey Miss J. I finally got to yr blog and read the whole thing...you are sure a survivor. Youre not only funny and humorous but also intelligent...Loved the pics. One of your photos reminds me of Christine Lahti...Kay is my ghost writer as I am computer illiterate and she says that sitting on the lump is normal; she had that, too, and it will go away after awhile..You sure have had a good attitude thru all of this. I think you were right about praying for other people. I seem to do this continuously myself as I find other people have more problems, and you are right, if you say a prayer for them, it puts the angels into action..It was funny about Joel Olsteen getting the message to you. If youre in a room all by yourself, GOD has a way of finding you and getting something to you..Im almost 4 mos. out of my foot surgery; never thought I'd lose the walker, and here today, I went outside and pulled two weeds....so, hang in there. I will be able to leave messages with you now so this is great. Thank you so much for sharing.

I think it's just an excuse for - 'I can't come to the phone right now because I am almost finsihed with this blanket I'm crocheting and I don't want to stop to answer your dumb question.' !!!!! ;)

... I think this one is my favorite of all your blog stories!!! - don't you know that just when you think you might get a bit of information from the very organization that relies on your
expertise for their existence - you are left to simply surrender ...! It's time to celebrate "independence" - have a happy one!
